Clinical Internships in Lactation
Internship training is an integral part of becoming an IBCLC and a requirement for Pathway 3. Interns are introduced to the lactation field while developing their assessment and intervention skill sets. Interns will gain experience working with breastfeeding families through a continuum of care in both the acute hospital setting, outpatient clinics, and virtual visits.
Requirements:
- Candidates must have completed the IBLCE health sciences education requirements.
- Candidates must be enrolled in an IBLCE approved 90 lactation education hours prior to the start of the internship.
- Demonstration of a strong background in pediatric or maternal healthcare.
- Complete and submit IBCLC Internship Application along with a resume. Interviewsare required prior to acceptance.
- Internships must be completed within 6 months.
Clinical Mentorship
Mentorship sessions are designed to augment clinical experiences for the aspiring or newly certified IBCLC. Sessions are 1.5 hours in length and can be either in person in the Anchorage area or virtual.
